New Blog -- Just Another Link on the Chain

Living on Audrey St. in Guelph, ON, I experience culture shock. I experience the return to a land where the native tongue is my own and am surprised at the liberating feeling. This blog will commemorate the feelings of sharing a room with another individual for the first time in your life, the experience of returning to a familiar place as a changed person (post-professional), and for the immutable trace of strangeness in every day and in every thought. The first entry is a dated poem from this past new year's eve:

"Don't cheat the trying man"

In the carefully custom cast home time no longer breeds money,
money methodically buys time,
here, time we spent.
At diner:
Why this the thing is my point being.
Outside night met firelight
a sound fueled by accidents of energy
ringing clear, high up and out
branches with inch thick piles of snow
dampening
energy efficient, double-paned window glass.
We, adjacent
the rare and strange blue moon.

The clever design
of spaces to be unseen
not public
private
not present
future-felt
like atmosphere
to a generation: a sound and glow
a countdown to a unified moment
and doubtful sincerity between classes

Later a walking, probing appreciation of the moon
where "could we just talk about it"
came drunkenly with shouts
too late or too soon
eliciting certain memories and uncertain futures
an urgent failing
between us
a return to toilet seat and clangy-things redesigned quietly
and shoes wet
to my feet
against the heated, scaled floor
meaning of and meaning less evolution
